Funding Assistance

NORTHLAND BASED AND LOOKING FOR FUNDING?

Maybe you have an idea already, are the type of person who loves organising people, or are new in the ‘hood and want an excuse to say “kia ora”! Whatever the reason, we’d love to hear from you about creating a little more connection with the people where you are. Your neighbours, the farm down the ways, maybe even the postie - we know that the people around you are important.

If you’re interested we’d love to hear from you. By participating, you are agreeing to do something for those people near you. It must:

  • Be open to anyone who would like to come along

  • Be somewhere in Northland. From Pouto, to Kaiwaka and Kaitaia and anywhere in between

  • Be advertised/promoted to people in a useful way. This might be a letterbox drop, on Facebook, or an add in the local paper

  • Be listed on the Neighbours Day Aotearoa website (we’ll take care of this part with you!)

  • We’re hoping about 15-20 people will want to join in on whatever you do

  • You must join the Neighbours Day team for a Zoom meeting, at 4pm on Sunday 21 February

You can’t place a value on the connection between people. But we do want to make sure that people have what they need to bring people together! For the 10 awesome ideas chosen, we’ll provide $500 to help make it happen. We expect that this will be split evenly between costs for your idea (postcards, sausages, decorations - whatever you need to buy), and a fee to you for your time organising.

Interested but don’t have an idea yet? No problem! Get in touch - we can help you think of ideas.

  • Thanks to Auckland Council and EcoMatters grants of up to $200 are now available to help reduce waste sent to landfill at community events. Check it out here.

If you live in the Henderson-Massey, Whau, Waitākere Ranges or Maungakiekie-Tāmaki local board area, EcoMatters is offering funds to help you organise an environmental initiative in your neighbourhood, including:

  • organising a clean-up of your street, local park or beach

  • setting up a pest trapping programme in your neighbourhood

  • community plantings or weeding bees

  • local food growing projects

For any of these projects and more, up to $500 is available to cover your expenses. Find out more here.
