COVID-19 Protection Framework
We’re strongly committed to ensuring that events held for Neighbours Day Aotearoa have all the appropriate measures in place to ensure that the community are organising safe events. Keeping communities protected is paramount.
If you are planning a gathering or event for Neighbours Day Aotearoa 2022, the limitations and protections laid out in the Covid-19 Protection Framework must be followed.
We believe that having a prevention focused lens and clear communication when organising an event will ensure your community will stay protected and individuals will feel safe.
Prevention focused: To protect each other, you need to make sure all the relevant protective layers are in place:
Hosting an event or gathering in orange
Hosting an event or gathering in red
Communication: Make sure your community knows what protective measures are in place so they can come prepared and also make an informed decision whether to attend or not.

My Vaccine Pass: It is important to note that asking people to provide proof of vaccination is not mandatory but there are restrictions on gatherings and events if vaccination status is not checked.
RED
My Vaccine Pass Required
Gatherings up to 100 people depending on the size of the venue, or up to 100 people at a private home.
My Vaccine Pass Not Required
Gatherings limited to 25 people at home or at an outdoor community event with uncontrolled access.
ORANGE
My Vaccine Pass Required
No limits on gatherings at home.
My Vaccine Pass Not Required
Small gatherings limited to 50 people at home, or at a venue (depending on the size of the venue). Up to 50 people at an outdoor community event with uncontrolled access.
GREEN
My Vaccine Pass Required
No limits on gatherings at home.
My Vaccine Pass Not Required
Gatherings and events up to 100 people depending on the size of the venue.
General information about holding a gathering or event:
You can visit friends and whānau at their homes, and invite them to yours, at every traffic light setting.
If a gathering chooses to follow My Vaccine Pass requirements, only people with My Vaccine Pass are allowed to be there.
Children under the age of 12 years and 3 months do not need to provide a My Vaccine Pass to enter places with a vaccination requirement.
If you have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, stay home and get a test.
Clean or disinfect shared surfaces often
Consider how numbers at the event will be managed for controlled access e.g. event registration, counting numbers
Other considerations:
QR code
Signage/posters
Face coverings and hygiene
Provision of masks, hand sanitizer etc.
Indoor or outdoor events and the different requirements
Serving food and drink
You can serve food and drink at your gathering.
Private homes and places of worship do not have to follow hospitality rules.
If your gathering is at a hospitality venue, for example at a licensed restaurant, you need to follow the hospitality advice.
If you have exclusive use of a hospitality venue, then you do not need to follow the hospitality advice.
