10 days, 10 ways: Neighbours Day Aotearoa Zoom Festival
Just like TVNZ OnDemand, catch up with what you missed out on here!
Neighbours Day Aotearoa 2020 we went online and ran a Zoom Festival to celebrate Neighbours Day. We wanted people to stay connected while remaining safe with social distancing. We know some of you did the same! You either joined in with our Zooms, or held your own.
Being connected to our neighbours and communities is especially important when times are tough, and reaching out and making meaningful connections with neighbours can combat loneliness and isolation, help improve mental health, and increase safety in our communities.
The Neighbours Day Aotearoa Zoom events offered improvisation, a local panel talk, an open mic night, a kids corner and a violinist and much more! A huge thanks to the amazing people who stepped up to run these. We have the recordings below for you to watch again or check out for the first time.
As this was so popular, many of you asked for more - and we had so much fun we couldn’t resist. You told us what you wanted to see and in June 2020 we held The Great Skill Share - where local people shared their skills, from setting up seed swaps, exercise groups and learning about rongoā gardening.

We weren’t the only ones who held events, many of you did too! Some people got in early and held their events before lockdown, while others took their physical events online. A huge shout out to all of you who kept connected in big ways and small.
The Whiteboard concerts went online for March and April in 2020.
Moving their event and remaining flexible kept these neighbours connected.
You can’t really have a virtual pool party and luckily these cool residents had planned their party early.
